Serena Williams has done it all in tennis, but there’s so much more to come! She’s a world class athlete, an amazing mother, and more of a role model than most.
“Serena Williams is my idol,” says the former world No. 1 and nine-time Grand Slam champion. “[She] is an inspiration to everyone. [She] has the best game in the world. She’s a wonderful person, she is a great role model and she has done it all. There’s no other person like her. She is a beautiful soul. She is an extraordinary athlete.”
Williams, 46, is currently ranked No. 1 for the first time at Wimbledon after her 7-6 (5) 6-2 win over Sabine Lisicki, completing the ‘grand slam’ for the first time in her career. The win also marked the first time in history that the reigning and defending champion have faced each other at the same Grand Slam event in the same year.
“After Wimbledon, you get to a new chapter and a new level and this is the endgame, trying to put everything on a new page,” she tells CNBC Make It. “I just think that the level of tennis that I am playing with my new ball now, I’ve got to be the best on that new ball I can possibly be. I’m happy with the way things have gone, but hopefully I can go back to the way I was before. With the little stuff that I can control.”

The past few weeks have been all about improving. Williams says her game has always been about the mental factor. “I’m sure you’ve seen what I’ve done. It’s been working well, but there was always a question of who’s going to be there next, and in how many places,” she tells CNBC Make It.
Wimbledon will be her final Grand Slam until 2022, and she isn’t sure whether she’ll play in the other Grand Slam events this year.
