Qatar may allow LGBTQ flags, protests during World Cup: report
Qatar’s government has said it will allow protests and religious events, but will not allow rainbow flags, the state news agency QNA reported today.
The government said it had received a request for permission from FIFA to allow the rainbow flag to fly during the 2022 World Cup, which is being played in Qatar, but that it would not allow it.
It also said it would not allow protests or rallies.
“This flag, representing all religions, is a symbol representing hate and discrimination,” it said in a statement.
The Qatar bid for the 2022 World Cup said that it welcomed all “regions and ethnic groups’ calls for freedom to express their beliefs,” as long as it didn’t infringe on the rights of others.
The bid noted that the stadium would also allow for protests, but it said it would not allow demonstrations or flag-raising ceremonies during the 2022 World Cup.
The Qatari government has not yet responded to a request for comment on the issue.
Qatar currently holds the rights to host the World Cup.

As a new parent, you probably feel overwhelmed by all the things to care for and remember. And that’s okay.
