In May, Chadwick Boseman signed on to play Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the first of two tentpoles scheduled for release during the current October 11, 2018, release frame. The first Black Panther movie, which will serve as the franchise’s first live-action film, features the T’Challa super-hero, and will be directed by first-time feature director Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station”). The cast also features Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Josh Brolin, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Daniel Kaluuya, and Ben Kingsley.

Now, as the world awaits the release of the first official footage from the studio’s upcoming sequel, Black Panther 2, a new rumor also has emerged from the source familiar within the franchise. Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman have both expressed interest in reprising their roles for the anticipated film. The two actresses are perhaps most famous for their respective roles as two women who came together in a tragic life-or-death, non-physical romance in the film Selma, which won the Academy Award for best picture and Boseman won for best supporting actor. The two will be returning to the franchise as individuals following the death of Black Panther.

The two women most well-versed in the Black Panther universe — Boseman and Nyong’o — are considered a favorite pair in the cast. But, it appears that they’re not exactly the happiest pair. Both actresses have expressed concerns over the fate of their characters in Black Panther 2. While Boseman’s character appears to have no significant role in the upcoming movie, the possibility of Nyong’o’s character dying or being harmed is a real concern for Nyong’
